Students will do the following steps, using a handout from I am Already Successful. p. 140 & 141.
- Students will be given several different statements (i.e. Government should stay out of people's lives), and then they will be told that they can strongly agree with the statement, strongly disagree, or they can remain unsure.
- After they have disclosed how they feel about each of the issues, the instructor will read off one of the statements. Those who strongly agree will stand on one side, and those that strongly disagree will stand on the other side. Those that are unsure will remain in the middle.
- The students on one side get five minutes to convince the others that their opinion is correct, and then the other side tries to do the same.
- The students who were unsure will be asked to make a choice, and tell the class why they made that choice.
