Warriors of the Rainbow

Students will read the legend the Warriors of the Rainbow and answer the following Questions.

1. What does this Cree legend say will happen to the Earth in the future?
2. What is the cause of this bleak future?
3. What must "the Indian" do before it is too late?
4. Who are the Warriors of the Rainbow?
5. What should the warriors of the rainbow do?
6. How would the Earth be a better place because of the Warriors of the Rainbow?
7. How would the leaders of people be chosen?

Students will then write a paragraph based on the following parameters:

Imagine what it means to be a Warrior of the Rainbow. What could you do right now to act like a Warrior of the Rainbow. How could your actions change the greater world? What difficulties might you come up against? What issues do we as a people face right now and how can an individual move to affect a change for the better? Is there any special onus on aboriginal people to be instigators of such a change?
