Finding the Main Idea
Students will be given a short story of three paragraphs. Students will be given four different possible titles of each. Students will pick the most appropriate title of the story and then answer several questions regarding each story. The stories will be read as a class, and then taken up together.
Students will then be given a brief newspaper article. They will write a sentence that tells the main idea of the article. They will then write an alternative headline for the article.
