Changing Per Cents to Fractions and Fractions to Per Cent

Per Cents to Fractions

Examples:

1. 37% = 37/100
2. 20% = 20/100 = 1/5
3. 127% = 1 27/100
4. 260% = 2 60/100 = 2 3/5

Students will then complete Exercises 1 - 3 of ABE Mathematics 2 on pages 291 - 293.

Changing Fractional Percents to Fractions and Decimals

Examples:

1. 1/10% = 1/10 x 1/100 = 1/1000 = .005
2. 2 1/2% = 5/2% = 5/2 x 1/100 = 5/200 = 1/40 = .025

Students will then complete Exercise 4

Changing Decimal Per Cents to Fractions

Examples:

1. 17.25% = 17 25/100% = 1725/100 x 1/100 = 1725/10000 = 69/400
2. 5.4% = 5 4/10% = 54/10 x 1/100 = 54/1000 = 27/500

Students will then complete Exercise 5.
