Day 34 Numeracy (Decimals)

Place Value

Students will be given the following place value chart. They will us the chart to write several different numbers with decimals. Students will learn how to convert a written decimal number to a numeral, and vice versa.

  1. Two hundred thirty-five ten thousandths = .0235
  2. Forty-five thousand and six hundred twenty-one thousandths = 45,000.621
  3. seventy-five and seventy-five hundred thousands = 75.0075


Students will then get problem set 3.1 from Basic Mathematics 5th Ed. p. 225, 227 to work on selected questions as a class. Students will then get a hand out from Mathematics Concepts, Workbook. P. 21 & 22 to work on the concept of place value and rounding of decimals.
