Students will be given the following place value chart. They will us the chart to write several different numbers with decimals. Students will learn how to convert a written decimal number to a numeral, and vice versa.
- Two hundred thirty-five ten thousandths = .0235
- Forty-five thousand and six hundred twenty-one thousandths = 45,000.621
- seventy-five and seventy-five hundred thousands = 75.0075

Students will then get problem set 3.1 from Basic Mathematics 5th Ed. p. 225, 227 to work on selected questions as a class. Students will then get a hand out from Mathematics Concepts, Workbook. P. 21 & 22 to work on the concept of place value and rounding of decimals.
