Finding a Per Cent of a Number
To find the part one number is of another, multiply the per cent by the whole. First you have to convert the per cent to a decimal.
part = per cent x whole
Example: What is 25% of 40?
25% = .25
(.25)(40) = 10
Therefore: 25% of 40 is 10
Students will then complete exercise 1 & 2 from Adult Basic Education Mathematics 2, p. 303 & 304.
